Important notices about the limitations of this Service — Last updated March 2026

Petarus is a pet records management and sharing platform. While we work hard to make it useful and reliable, there are important limitations you should understand before relying on it. Please read the following carefully.

Not a Veterinary or Medical Service

Petarus is a digital record-keeping tool, not a veterinary practice, medical service, or health advisory platform. Nothing on this platform constitutes veterinary advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or professional medical guidance of any kind.

Always consult a licensed veterinarian for your pet's health concerns. In a medical emergency, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately — do not rely on Petarus as your primary source of guidance.

We Are Not Responsible for Provider Actions

Petarus provides a platform that allows Pet Parents to share pet records with Providers (such as groomers, vets, boarding facilities, trainers, daycares, and rescue organizations). However, we have no control over, and accept no responsibility for, how Providers use, store, handle, or act upon any information shared with them.

Providers are independent third parties. Sharing your pet's records with a Provider is entirely at your own discretion. Petarus does not verify, endorse, or monitor Provider conduct, qualifications, licensing, or data handling practices.

Once a Provider has accessed shared records, Petarus cannot guarantee that the Provider has not retained, copied, or further shared that information. Review each Provider's own privacy policy and terms before sharing sensitive data.

AI Extraction Is Not Guaranteed to Be Accurate

The AI Smart Import feature attempts to extract structured data from uploaded documents. This is an automated process and results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or incorrect. The AI may misread dates, misidentify medications, omit information, or extract data from the wrong section of a document.

You are solely responsible for reviewing all AI-extracted data before saving it to your pet's profile. Never rely on AI-extracted medical, vaccination, or insurance information without verifying it against your original documents. Petarus is not liable for any harm resulting from unverified AI output.

Record Accuracy Is Your Responsibility

Petarus does not verify, validate, or authenticate any pet records, vaccination certificates, insurance policies, or other information entered by users. The accuracy and completeness of all records is entirely the responsibility of the Pet Parent who enters them.

Providers who receive shared records should independently verify critical medical information (such as vaccination status or allergy alerts) with the issuing veterinarian or institution before making care decisions based solely on Petarus records.

Insurance Information Is for Reference Only

Any insurance policy information stored in Petarus is for convenience and sharing purposes only. Petarus does not verify the validity, accuracy, or current status of any insurance policy. Coverage details, deductibles, limits, and policy terms can change — always contact your insurance provider directly to confirm current coverage.

Petarus is not an insurance broker, agent, or intermediary and does not provide insurance advice.

Lost Pet Feature Limitations

The Lost Pet QR Code feature is designed to help reunite lost pets with their owners. However, Petarus cannot guarantee that a lost pet will be found, that a finder will scan the QR code, or that contact information will be current and reachable. This feature is a supplementary tool and should not replace microchipping, ID tags, or other established lost pet recovery methods.

Service Availability

Petarus is provided "as is" and we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Service at all times. We are not liable for any loss of data or inability to access records due to service outages, technical failures, or circumstances beyond our control.

We strongly recommend keeping backup copies of critical pet health documents (such as vaccination certificates and insurance cards) in a separate location and not relying solely on Petarus as your only record-keeping system.

In Plain Language

Petarus is a helpful tool for organizing and sharing your pet's records — but it's not a substitute for professional veterinary care, and we can't control what happens after you choose to share your pet's information with a provider. Use it as a convenience, always verify important medical data, and keep your own backup copies of critical documents.
